Hello, my name is  Mike Payne - And I am the SOLE AUTHOR of the current "CTA Gray Line 'L' Route" Project (CMAP RTP Major Capital Project ID# 01-02-9003)

The Gray Line is currently  designated  by CMAP as the "South Lakefront Service" in their Project Lists.

This Plan would utilize the In-City Metra Electric District services (Kensington, South Chicago, Blue Island, and a new Hegewisch Shuttle) as a new Regional South Lakefront Corridor CTA 'L' service: the CTA Gray Line (Using A L L  E X I S T I N G  Metra Electric District Trains, Tracks, and Infrastructure)

The Gray Line, a Very Inexpensive and Cost Effective Proposal to provide  CTA Rapid Transit ('L') Service  to the  SE Lakefront Corridor - The only Quadrant of The City of Chicago without CTA 'L' Service, and the Economic and Social benefits 'L' service provides.

As Crain's Map of Metra's Suburban services CLEARLY shows, some of the South Side's Inner-city stations of the Metra Electric District are in the poorest Neighborhoods served on the entire 11-Line Metra system (although not so much the fault of Metra -- But due to Economic and Demographic changes).

By Utilizing the E X I S T I N G In-city Metra Electric District Trains, Tracks and Services (The Kensington, South Chicago, and Blue Island Routes, plus a new Shuttle to Hegewisch) as a New 25 Mile 40 Station Regional CTA 'L' Line for Chicago's South Lakefront and South Side.

This New Transit Service could help to Stimulate 10,000 New Permanent Jobs and Billions in Economic Development.

Especially Important in the Neighborhoods shown in RED on the Crain's Map; the Link below will take you directly to Crain's Article.

* 10,000 New Permanent Jobs = 40 Stations x Approximately 250 New Permanent Jobs in the vicinity of each Station.

* Each New Gray Line Station Attracting:
Walgreens, Starbucks, Dry Cleaners, 7-11, Day-Care, Restaurants, Clothing Stores, Hair Care, Shoe Stores, etc., etc....
 .
